What is your presentation about?
Impact of socioeconomic factors on heart failure outcomes. Especially how financial toxicity and barriers to access of heart failure therapies are so important currently. What can be done to overcome these barriers to improve patients’ lives.
What makes this topic important in 2022?
Barriers to access of heart failure therapies is one of the major reasons for low implementation of guideline-directed medical therapy in heart failure, which can potentially save millions of lives.
How did you become involved with this area of diabetes research or care?
Heart failure is very prevalent in patients with diabetes — they often co-exist together. Strategies are needed to prevent heart failure in patients with diabetes — this got me involved in this type of research.
What are you most looking forward to at the 82nd Scientific Sessions?
Meeting and interacting with other speakers.
