What is your presentation about?
GMI is a new metric that estimates A1C from CGM mean glucose. We looked at the accuracy of this formula in those who do not have diabetes or well controlled T1D.
What makes this topic important in 2022?
With the rise in telemedicine, GMI is being used commonly instead of A1C as GMI does not require going to a lab. It is calculated using CGM mean glucose of the past 2 weeks. We wanted to make sure that GMI is appropriate to use in well-controlled T1D or non-diabetic population.
How did you become involved with this area of diabetes research or care?
I have been a clinical researcher with interest in the field of diabetes technology for the past 10 years.
What are you most looking forward to at the 82nd Scientific Sessions?
Excited to see colleagues from across the world.
